Root canal

What is it and how does it work?

At Peachy Dental, we make root canals easier to understand, with appointments and pricing that are easy to access.

If you're dealing with tooth pain, sensitivity or swelling, a root canal might be the right solution. It’s a common treatment that helps save your natural tooth, stop infection and bring lasting relief.

Your care team puts your comfort first, with advanced technology, same-day appointments and pricing that’s clear from the start, so you always know what to expect.

Root canal FAQs

Please reach us at info@mypeachydental.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Most root canals take about 1-2 hors. The exact time depends on which tooth is being treated and how complex the procedure is. Your Peachy Dental care team will walk you through your personalized plan before starting, so you know what to expect for your appointment.

Thanks to modern anesthesia and advanced techniques, we try to help our patients feel as comfortable as possible during their treatment. You may notice some soreness or sensitivity afterward, but that can usually be managed with over-the-counter medication and after-care instructions from your care team.

Look for symptoms like persistent pain, swelling, or sensitivity — and visit a dentist promptly.

Yes, in many cases it can be. If the infection inside your tooth spreads, it may affect nearby teeth, gums or even bone. That’s why it’s important to get care quickly when you notice lingering pain or swelling. Peachy Dental offers same day appointments to treat urgent needs.

Sometimes, extraction is the only alternative, but this can lead to further dental issues if tooth replacement therapy isn't done after the extraction. A root canal preserves your natural tooth whenever possible.

Maintain a good daily oral hygiene routine such as brushing twice a day, flossing and using an antiseptic rinse at night. In addition, schedule regular checkups every 6 months so your provider can check for cavities or other potential issues, and create a plan to treat.

Root canals are typically performed by an endodontist, who is a dental specialist trained in diagnosing and treating issues related to the dental pulp and roots of teeth. However, general dentists can also perform root canal treatments if they have the necessary training and experience. For more complex cases, an endodontist's expertise is recommended to ensure the best outcome.

A root canal is often needed when the pulp inside your tooth becomes infected or inflamed. This can happen due to deep tooth decay, repeated dental procedures on the tooth, or trauma to the tooth, such as cracks or chips. Left untreated, these dental issues can lead to severe pain and even abscesses.

Root canals are not bad for you; in fact, they are beneficial. The procedure removes infected or damaged tissue inside your tooth, relieving pain and preventing further infection in the root. Root canals help save your natural teeth and maintain your oral health, allowing you to continue enjoying a healthy, functional smile.

A root canal treated tooth without a crown, that needed one after a root canal treatment, may last a short time, but it is at a higher risk of fracture and reinfection. It is highly recommended to get a crown placed soon after the root canal to protect and strengthen the tooth.

Tooth extraction

What is a tooth extraction?

A tooth extraction is a routine dental procedure where a tooth is gently removed from its socket. It’s often recommended when a tooth is too damaged or infected to repair safely.

Removing a problem tooth can relieve discomfort, reduce the risk of infection and help keep your other teeth healthy. At Peachy Dental your dentist will explain each step, answer your questions and make sure you feel at ease throughout your visit.

Tooth extraction FAQs

Most people can start eating soft solid foods within a day or two. Begin with easy options like eggs, yogurt or mashed potatoes and move to more textured foods as your comfort improves. Your Peachy Dental dentist will let you know when it’s safe to return to your usual meals.

Stick to soft foods that are gentle on your mouth and easy to chew. Smoothies, applesauce, oatmeal, soup and soft pasta are great choices. Drink plenty of water, but skip using a straw for the first few days since suction can disturb healing.

Keep gauze in place until bleeding slows, which usually happens within a few hours. Replace it with clean gauze as directed by your Peachy Dental team. If bleeding continues, bite gently on new gauze for about 30 minutes. If it doesn’t slow down, call your Peachy Dental office for guidance.

Your Peachy Dental team will make sure you’re comfortable before treatment begins. You shouldn’t feel sharp discomfort during the procedure, though it’s normal to have some tenderness or swelling afterward. You’ll receive a clear aftercare plan, including ice and medication instructions, to help you recover comfortably. If soreness doesn’t improve, reach out to your Peachy Dental office.

Tooth extraction can stop pain from severe decay or infection, protect nearby teeth and gums, remove crowded or impacted teeth that affect your bite, and allow you to move forward with dental bridges, dental implants, or dentures when needed.

Complications are rare, especially when you follow your Peachy Dental aftercare plan. Risks may include dry socket, infection, prolonged bleeding or irritation around the area. If you notice swelling, fever, a bad taste or bleeding that doesn't stop, call your Peachy Dental office right away so we can help you heal safely.

Dental bridge

What Is It and How Does It Work?

Missing a tooth can affect how you eat, speak and smile. A dental bridge fills the gap by anchoring an artificial tooth to nearby teeth, or to implants. It restores how your smile looks and feels.

At Peachy Dental, your care team helps you choose the right bridge for your smile and makes it simple to plan your treatment with flexible 3rd party financing, the Peachy Dental Savings Plan, and support for most major insurance plans.

*The Peachy Dental Savings Plan is NOT insurance. Please see the plan terms and conditions for details.

If you don’t have insurance, we’ve still got options for you. We offer 3rd-party financing. 99% of patients are approved when they apply, and the Peachy Dental Savings Plan helps reduce out-of-pocket costs. We’ll walk through everything with you before treatment starts.

Most dental bridges last between 5 to 15 years, depending on how well they’re cared for. A few things that can impact lifespan:

  • Your oral care habits: Daily brushing and flossing matter.
  • The materials used: Bridges made with zirconia tend to last longer.
  • Where it’s placed: Bridges in the back of the mouth face more wear and tear.
  • Regular checkups: Staying on top of dental visits helps catch small issues early.

Most patients say the process feels easier than expected. We use local anesthetic to keep you comfortable during treatment. Afterward, you may feel some mild soreness, but that typically goes away within a few days and can be managed with over-the-counter pain relief.

That depends on the type of bridge and how many teeth you're replacing. In general:

  • Traditional bridges need at least two healthy teeth next to the gap.
  • Longer bridges require more support from additional teeth.
  • Implant supported bridges don’t rely on natural teeth. They anchor to implants instead.

We’ll help you decide what works best for your smile.

 Care is simple and important.

  • Brush twice a day.
  • Floss daily, use a floss threader or water flosser to clean under the bridge.
  • Stay on top of your regular check-ups.

This helps protect the teeth and gums around your bridge and keeps your smile strong.

Yes, most patients return to their usual diet pretty quickly. We recommend easing in with softer foods, chewing slowly, and avoiding very sticky or hard items early on to protect your new bridge.

It’s best not to wait. The sooner you replace a missing tooth, the better you can protect your bite and prevent teeth from shifting. After an exam, your Peachy Dental dentist will let you know when you're ready to move forward.

Dental crowns

What is a dental crown?

A dental crown is a custom cap that covers the visible part of your tooth. It restores natural shape and strength, protects weak enamel and refreshes your smile. Your dentist may recommend a crown for deep cracks, heavy wear, large fillings or to reinforce a tooth after a root canal.

Dental crown FAQs

Please reach us at info@mypeachydental.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Getting a crown typically involves two visits. At the first, your dentist at Peachy Dental shapes the tooth, takes a scan or impression and places a temporary crown to protect the area. At the second, they’ll fit and cement your custom crown once it’s ready from the lab. Your care team will walk you through each step and make sure you’re comfortable the entire way.

With good care, crowns last many years. Regular dental check-ups, daily brushing and flossing, and habits like wearing a night guard (if recommended) can all help extend their lifespan. Avoiding very hard foods and keeping up with your routine preventive cleanings also makes a difference.

Our goal is to keep you comfortable every step. Your Peachy Dental care team uses local anesthesia during the procedure and checks in throughout so you can tell us how you’re feeling. Some pressure or mild sensitivity afterward is common and usually eases with simple home care. If discomfort feels unusual or doesn’t improve, contact the Peachy Dental office and we’ll take a look.

Yes. If there’s a small chip or minor wear, your dentist may be able to smooth or repair it. If the crown is cracked, loose or worn down, they may recommend a replacement. Your Peachy Dental care team will check the crown’s fit and condition and guide you toward the most reliable fix.

Most people do well with crowns. But like any procedure, there can be minor risks—like temporary sensitivity, bite adjustments or gum irritation. Rarely, you might need further care if symptoms persist. Your Peachy Dental care team helps reduce risk with careful planning and clear instructions. If something doesn’t feel right, contact the Peachy Dental office and We’ll take a look.

Dental filling

What is a tooth filling?

A tooth filling is a restorative treatment that repairs a tooth that has been damaged by decay, or minor fractures. When getting a filling, your dentist will remove any decay in your tooth and then fill the leftover space with either composite resin, glass ionomer or amalgam. This restores shape and function of your tooth while helping to minimize any discomfort or sensitivity.

Dental filling FAQs

Please reach us at info@mypeachydental.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

At Peachy Dental, dental fillings can be made from:

  • Composite resin
  • Glass ionomer
  • Amalgam (silver or a mix of silver, tin and copper)

Each material has different benefits, such as durability, appearance and cost. Your dentist will help you choose the best option for your dental needs and budget. Schedule an appointment today for a customized care plan and estimate.

With proper oral hygiene, dietary habits and homecare, your filling can last several years. The lifespan of dental fillings depends on the material of your filling, homecare and your daily oral habits. With good brushing, flossing and regular checkups, you can help extend the lifespan of any type of filling.

If you’re coming in for your routine check-ups, your dentist will track how your fillings are looking and replace them as needed. In between visits, if you experience any of the following, make sure to give us a call or see us immediately if you’re experiencing:

  • A loose filling
  • Gaps at the edge of filling
  • Cracks or chips in your filling
  • Dental pain of any kind

Wondering, "do cavity fillings hurt?” Good news, a tooth filling procedure is typically painless due to local anesthesia. During your procedure, you may feel light pressure or vibrations. If you feel discomfort or pain at any point, let your dentist know immediately. After your procedure, mild sensitivity is common and should fade with time.

  • Most dental plans cover part or all of a basic filling
  • Some back-tooth composites may require extra payment
  • Bring your insurance details and we’ll confirm what your plan is likely to cover. See accepted insurance providers

Teeth whitening

Teeth Whitening: What Is It?

Professional-grade whitening systems are the most reliable for safe, effective results. They use stronger, dentist-approved formulas that remove deeper stains without damaging enamel. While over-the-counter options can help with surface stains, professional treatments deliver noticeably brighter, longer-lasting results.

Yes, teeth bleaching is another term for whitening, but bleaching often refers to stronger solutions that are only available through professional care.

Yes, yellowed teeth respond well to whitening and can be brightened in 30 minutes with a visit at Peachy Dental. Severe cases may require multiple treatments or other solutions, like veneers.

In-office professional whitening is the quickest and safest option. Treatment can usually be completed in about 30-minutes and can include touch-up kits for at-home use.

PERIODONTAL DISEASE

What is periodontal disease?

Periodontal disease is a progressive infection caused by plaque that hardens into tartar and triggers inflammation in the gums. Without daily preventative treatments, the infection can spread to the bone and lead to tooth loss. Research also links periodontal disease to overall health concerns, including diabetes, heart and respiratory conditions.

Periodontal disease treatment FAQs

Please reach us at info@mypeachydental.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Gingivitis is reversible, but periodontitis cannot be cured. With treatment and regular maintenance, it can be controlled and prevented from progressing.

It can spread through saliva, but good daily oral hygiene and regular dental visits can help reduce the risk.

Most patients feel little discomfort during deep cleaning with local anesthesia. Mild soreness is normal afterward, and laser therapy can help ease pain and speed healing.

Scaling and root planning takes 1–2 visits and heals in a few weeks. Maintenance every three months is recommended.

Untreated gum disease can cause the infection to spread, bone loss and tooth loss, and may impact overall health. It can also lead to additional treatment and costs down the line.

Gum recession rarely reverses naturally. Gum grafting procedures can restore tissue coverage and improve appearance and sensitivity.

Peachy Dental provides comprehensive periodontal care, including evaluations, scaling and root planning, maintenance visits, localized antibiotics and treatment for gum inflammation or recession.

Periodontal therapy treats gum disease by reducing inflammation and protecting bone and tissue. It includes scaling and root planning to clean deep below the gumline, antibacterial care and surgical options when needed.
